I cannot stress to you enough the dire consequences that this proposal would bring to my only source of income! I am solely supporting our family of 4, and without my income and my ability to rapidly expand my business within a matter of days, we would lose our home. Being able to have the freedom to choose to join a business and make money immediately is the best thing about our company! Do you know how many women are out there like me - desperately needing income and needing to simply feed their family? Tupperware in particular can provide women with access to profits within 3 business days of signing their agreement!!! Have you any idea what this means to someone who was sick with worry over a credit card bill, a house payment, or just groceries? You would be taking away an immeasurable benefit to men, women and children alike. When I meet my prospective new team members at a party, they are excited, motivated and in need! If I were to say: "Sally, that is great, now just take this package home with you as according to FTC guidelines, and review your decision for 7 days, and then after that if you still want to join, we'll start that process too!" It would be a complete disaster! What a mess of information to give to someone! Do you know how time-consuming and difficult it is to train and motivate people as it is? Now imagine telling them to cool their fires for 7 days and then if they are still ready to work, come back! I cannot imagine any instance in which this makes good business sense! Our consultant agreement has the terms completely spelled out on the back of the form, and any prospective client can read them for themselves! In addition, if a person purchases our business kit and then does nothing further, they are still not under any further obligation! There is NO risk! I would have to say that if passed, this regulation would most likely ruin my dreams of continuing for many years to come in my direct selling business. I do not think that with the state of the economy right now that the USA can afford to make this brash of a move. I STRONGLY URGE YOU - DO NOT DO THIS TO US!!! It is not your place to make an adult have a "waiting period" to start a new home business! You have "waiting periods" to buy guns. THIS is not the place for such waiting periods! PLEASE UNDERSTAND - millions of women's hopes, dreams, and livelihood depend on their direct sales incomes....from helping to pay extra bills each month, to saving for college, for retirement, for a vacation, for extra expenses, for emergencies, to build a new home, buy a new car, replace home items or make renovations, even to donate to charities from the vast array of fundraiser opportunities that most home businesses offer! IT WOULD BE A GRAVE MISTAKE TO INTERFERE with this process in this way! You may not realize it, but you will be undermining a crucial asset that direct marketing companies posess - the power to change someone's life in a matter of days! Also, it unfair to the consumer to prohibit them from making their decision without waiting. Lastly, it would be a huge burden to me as a consultant to have to obtain this updated information to give to these prospected consultants to review. I already invest so much of my time and my home's space to my business, and don't have the capability to run that information as well - it will create an immeasurable amount of work and upkeep for all of us!! Please consider these factors - not to mention the privacy issue ( I DO NOT want my name and address to be on some letter being passed around to prospects in my area) when you are making the decision to pass this measure and please consider in your hearts to say NO to this initiative!!! All of us here in the majority of the HARDWORKING, HONEST DIRECT SALES MARKET WILL THANK YOU FOR ENABLING US TO CONTINUE OUR BUSINESS UNINTERRUPTED AND UNCHANGED!!! Thank you for your time.
