I receive way too many e-mails related to viagara, mortgages, drugs, etc. There has to be a way to stop these spammers who send email without regard to the target market ? I am female and not interested in Viagara ? I am not a drug user and never will be so I am not interested in those messages. I am however, a professional speaker, an author, an entrepreneur, a Microsoft user, a parent, a consultant. From time to time I get targeted email that I did not subscribe to receive. It could be new equipment relevant to professional speakers to give me a competitive advantage. It could be about new software that I can purchase to make sure my kids aren?t getting in to porn sites. It could be on new technologies to develop e-books which makes my business more competitive. I DON?T want this to stop.I am troubled by the excessive proposed requirement for merchants to maintain suppression lists. There has to be a way to stop the spammers but allow targeted legitimate marketing email. My concern is for the legitimate online publications, which require clients? permission before adding them to their list. The CAN-SPAM requirement will most likely affect those businesses and force them to go out of business and ultimately affect our economy and my business. My concern is that the legislation will force the spammers to go offshore where your rules don?t apply and I will still be bombarded with viagara emails but I will no longer get the targeted marketing emails which are valuable to my business because the senders will abide by the rules.
