Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008To the Commissioners,Spam is a very serious problem. I'm glad you are interested in solving it. I have questions about the use of suppression lists as a solution.There is too great a potential of harm to legitimate businesses. Requiring the release of email addresses that request removal from a publishers information would only feed companies who will not comply with the rules now. This will cause real businesses to go out of business.They're not who CAN-SPAM was designed to put out ofbusiness, but this requirement will very likely havethat effect.This could easily lead to more spam rather than less.I urge you to reconsider its implementation in lightof these problems,Respectfully,Tom BarnettMissouri, USA
