Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008To the Commissioners,I welcome your efforts to prevent unsolicited bulk email. I am very concerned that it requirements merchants to maintain suppression lists. There are problems and costs associated withthis idea, this is a disservice to consumers andbusinesses alike, please consider this matter more carefully.Use of suppression lists will eliminate many of the legitimate publications available on the net. Publishers would require permission from every consumer prior to adding them to any list.Publishers and legitimate permission based email companies are not who CAN-SPAM was designed to put out of business, but this requirement will very likely do that!Consumers may confuse their intent when they unsubscribe from a list. Suppression lists could get in the possession of spammers, leading to more spam instead of less. The potential problems this ruling could have far outweigh any benefits and I urge you in the strongest possible terms to reconsider its implementation!Sincerely,Kurt WilkinsBoise, Idaho
