Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008To the Commissioners,I welcome the attempt to stop the problem ofunsolicited bulk email. However, I believe it may do more harm than good for merchants who have opt-in lists.I am writing to urge you to seriously reconsider this matter because of the damage it can do to consumers and businesses. Those who stand to be harmed the most are legitimate publications that require permission before being added to a list. This could cause major damage for many serious publications. They are not the ones the CAN-SPAM was designed to put out of business, but this requirement will most likely have that result. This could also do great damage to consumers by causing confusion when they attempt to unsubscribe from a list. In addition, the risk of unscrupluous people online to get these lists is also increased by passing this bill. The result could be more spam than is currently afoot.I am urging you in the strongest manner possible to reconsider it being put in place given the many problems that may result as a consequence. Respectfully,Kamau Kenyatta Pennslyvania, USA
