Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008To the Commissioners,I am glad you are trying to regulate unsolicted bulk email/ spammers. However, I am concerned about the proposed requirement for merchants to maintainsuppression lists. But please consider this matter most carefully because of the cost and damage to internet businesses and customers.Requirement of the use of suppression lists willseriously damage many of the legitimate publications available on the net. I am afraid that it will do harm to publishers who require permission from the consumerprior to adding them to any list.Spammers, those who have no consideration for others to send them unwanted and often pornographic material are the ones who should be put out of business -- not honesty people who are trying to sell honest, legitimate and asked for products and information. These suppression lists could easily fall intothe hands of spammers, leading to more spam instead of less. The crooks will always find a way to be crooked and take what was meant for good and twist it for their own selfish gain.I am against the implementation of this ruling because of the ill effect it will have on all honest marketers and consumers who enjoy and use the interenet for legal and honest purposes.Thank you for your consideration.Respectfully,Dennis J.
