I am strongly in favor of implementation of a National Do Not Email Registry, and believe it should be made as restrictive as possible on original senders of commercial emails. The number of commercial emails that I have received since the implementation of the CAN-SPAM Act has increased significantly over pre-Act passage. Even though my Spam blocker program has been effective in eliminating most of these messages, their predominance slows down the entire internet. I would be most happy to see the companies behind them penalized with fines.
