I would love to see a registry, it should be a simply as possible and go after the main source of spam. Trying to control individuals who pass information on is absurd. We all need to take action by telling our family, friends and coworkers not to forward junk to us. To be legitimate, all advertisers should provide addresses, and phone numbers and an option to opt out of what they're sending you. Any business that you have legitimate dealings with, should have your permission to send information to your email then there would be no misunderstandings. If you decline their email notification offer, they will have to contact you in the standard way; by mail or phone.
