First I would comment that the CAN-SPAM act has had absolutely no effect on the amount of unsolicited SPAM I receive! It has steadily increased since 2002 with no slowing at all. I am convinced there are financial interests which have more influence over SPAM than the desires of U.S. citizens. I feel the government and computer scientists have the capability of immediately tracing the true source of the offending SPAM. Therefore, why isn't it being eliminated. Most SPAM is pure filth (pornography, misleading medical "lotions & potions" and "get rich quick" schemes. SPAM is the equilivant of thousands of junk mail showing up in the mailbox - BUT, the U.S. Post Office is making money from these "postal SPAMers". Crack down on the e-mail SPAMers with fees but have a strong capability of an enforced "do not SPAM" list. Use the technology that is out there - I know the government has all it takes to stop this
