The implementation of a National Do Not Email Registry - The idea of implementing a registry such as this is impossible and will not work. Changing email addresses is not like changing phone numbers. People can change email addresses in seconds by using free services such as hotmail and yahoo and it would impossible for small businesses such as ours to keep tabs on literally millions and millions if not billions of email addresses. I fear that such a registry would be obtained by those who should not have it and that spam would increase tenfold. I think it would be most helpful and work much more efficiently if email advertisers were forced to use technology that forced them to cleary identity themselves. Those using technology to mask where the email is coming from and to hide their identities would no longer be able to do so. Most spam is sent this way - it does not come from legitimate email advertisers. Please do not make it impossible for small businesses such as ours who use opt-in methods and try and supply members with valid and useful information about an industry to stay afloat. Our business would not be able to continue, five people would be unemployed and the multitude of individuals who want information we provide about technology would lose. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Stephanie Downs Founder/President ConferZone LLC
