Dear Lawmakers, I am almost sure you are about to do more harm than good. Legitimate businesses are already concerned with offending customers with unwanted email. We identify ourselves. They "know where we live." We have a relationship with customers and prospective customers that we don't want to damage. Spammers, on the other hand, have nothing to lose because they have no relationship with their victims. I am angry at them, but I am truly afraid of YOU. Why? Because you are likely to create a law that classifies me as one of them. I will be stopped because I am ethical, I care about my customers, and because my primary concern is my business: music publishing and helping customers have more success with their church choirs. The spammers WILL NOT BE STOPPED because they are unethical, they don't care about their victims since they have no relationship with them, and because their primary concern is their business: finding loopholes that will continue to allow them to spam. You have a difficult task here. PLEASE don't do more harm than good. Please beware of the tremendous damage this law could do to businesses who want to use email to enhance the legitimate relationship they have with their customers. You may not be able to bring manufacturing jobs back from overseas, BUT YOU CAN AVOID CUTTING THE LEGS OUT FROM UNDER LEGITIMATE BUSINESSES. It’s a tough job. Good luck! Dee Woolley
