Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008 To the Commissioners, I am gratefull for your efforts in controlling the problem of unsolicited bulk email. Although, I am concerned with the proposed requirement for merchants to maintain suppression lists. Not only are there problems and costs but a great deal of damage done to businesses and consumers alike that I respectfully request you consider this matter deeply. The use of suppression lists required will without a doubt seriously damage many of the legitimate publications available on the net. Publishers who require permission from the consumer before adding them to any list will suffer deeply. CAN SPAM was designed to target different kind of people but will harm the ones legally doing business. Consumers will also be harmed with the problem of knowing exactly why they unsubscribe from a list. Besides, these supression list can also be manipulated by spammers, if they get ahold of them, spamming even more instead of avoiding to do so. As you may see, the potential problems arising from this ruling are enormous so I urge you most respectfully to reconsider it's implementation so as to avoid said problems, Respectfully, AL BRAVO Aventura, Florida, USA
