Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008 I am concerned that this proposed legislation, in general, simply makes it more difficult for legitimate small companies to do business and communicate with people who have chosen (opted-in) to be on a list. It has the potential for causing needless, expensive and uncessary law suits. It has the potential for putting small companies out of business. And it will not halt the "real" SPAM, the SPAM people have not opted in for. I get more pornography today than I got 6 months ago. And I'm not getting some material I've opted in to receive. Please hold hearings with those people who own small businesses (often one-person businesses), engage in legitimate internet marketing, and are knowledgeable about this problem, the ramifications of any proposed legislation, and have extensive technical expertise. Please do not make laws that have the potential to put people like myself out of business or force us into law suits, while still leaving the problem of unsolicited e-mail unsolved. Thank you. Sincerely, Dr. MaryJo Wagner
