In commenting on the system for rewarding those who supply information on violaters, that would be fine and good if it would work that way. All I see are people that have been trouble makers, or sign up for many things then forget they did use this system just for meaness or the reward. There are many people out on the net who are no different than people who purposely causes an accident just to collect the insurance money. They are some of the ones that have been hurting true business owners who comply with all laws. As for the effectiveness or enforcement of the Can-Spam law, it has actually made things worse. WHY? Because at least 99.9% of spammers do not use their real email addresses, nor is there an remove me in the email, they are not worried about getting caught because at this time there is no way to track them down cheaply or at all. The closer Jan. 1st became for the law to come into effect, the more spam I started receiving, before then on average I received 45% spam, now it has just gone CRAZY, I would say that at least 95% of my email is from spammers and yes I don't like it either but when I started working online and heard about spammers, well I just looked at it as the risk of being online, even if you are just a surferSo until you can figure out how to stop those people, I'm afraid all this law is doing is making it harder for those of us to conduct business properly and easier for spammers. I think being able to email to those who have ask for the information should not be some major problem. Us as business owners or just trying to make a living or extra income to help suppliment income should not be put out of business. I do feel that those who ask for information and we have acquired their computer id, name and email address should be able to market to those people and yes make sure they can opt out. But beware that a lot of these same people will opt in for the same information more than once, there is where some like that might start to scream spam, but as long as we have their information each time they do it, then the business owners should not be held liable. The only thing I believe will help with spammers is when the different places come into full swing with the new kind of email providers. I know that Yahoo, Aol, Msn and one that is available now, has a new program unlike anything out there now. It is not the same as anti-spam programs, and once in full swing will be our only hope for less or no more spam. I know that the law makers of the Can-Spam Act thought they were going to solve the spam problems, but if anyone knows much about spam, those people can't be caught, and will still spam us no matter what law you put into effect. All I'm asking is to be able to build a business or income at home, you see I am totally disabled and this is the only way I have to do something about trying to get off SSA. I want to be my own person and not feel like I have to live on hand-outs so to speak. I don't want to spend my days living poorly and not knowing if there will be enough money to buy food till the next pay. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is in this situation. PLEASE DON'T MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME AND OTHERS LIKE ME TO MAKE MONEY FROM WORKING ONLINE SO WE CAN BECOME INDEPENTANT MEMBERS OF SOCIETY. Not to mention those who have been downsized out of a job, or can't afford to work outside of home because of daycare prices. We as American citizens and Veterans of Military service, should have the right to properly build a business online without the fear of laws impeding our efforts to the point of losing our business or way to make an income. When you can figure out how to catch those who spam and you have no way to opt out or even able to email them back, then you will have a handle on spammers, until then your new ammendments and laws will HAVE NO EFFECT on spammers Thank You
