Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008 To the Commissioners, I am very concerned about the proposed requirement for merchants to maintain suppression lists which include email addresses from all other merchants. Requirement of the use of suppression lists will seriously damage many of the legitimate businesses available via the net. They're not who CAN-SPAM was designed to put out of business, but this requirement may very well have this effect. Why is someone who runs a business in the UK concerned about US regulations? Because, what happens in the US today, often happens in the UK tomorrow. And, in respect of the regulation concerning suppression lists, I wouldn't want that, because it unfairly penalises legitimate small online businesses. Yours sincerely, Brian Raynor Chester, UK
