Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008 To the Commissioners, While I appreciate the fact that you're trying to reduce the unsolicited bulk email I get, I'm worried about the proposed requirement for merchants to maintain suppression lists. This is an extremely complicated and expensive idea. It won't just damage the business of legitimate publishers on the net, but it seems that it could even be an expense and risky proposition for little guys who publish informative newsletters that are valuable to their customers. I urge you to consider this matter more carefully. As a consumer, I worry about knowing the intent of properly knowing what happens when I unsubscribe from a list. What if these suppression lists fell into the hands of spammers, leading to more spam instead of less? Regards, Beth Bridges, Fresno, California, USA
