I'm not as fluent as someone like Paul Myers or Marlon Sanders, but what I know is if you enforce suppression lists, I'm done! I was laid off from my Corporate job 2 months ago because of downsizing, and now I have the threat of being downsized in my own business! Please don't do this. I am a work-at-home mother of 2 boys & this is my means of providing for my family. This request is not going to be full of technical jargon, I apologize for that. But what I do know is that this affects me in the worst way. Emailing is the only way I can get the word out about my offerings. If you do this, I'm through. Please don't do this to me. I don't understand what the difference is between Email advertising & watching a television and having commercials come up on the TV. They didn't ask for that commercial to come on, it's right in front of them. They either sit and watch or turn the channel. The same is true for email marketing. They can choose to be removed or stay on the list. But by this act being implemented for supression lists, from what I understand is, if a certain individual requests to be taken off of a specific mailing that has advertised a specific product, then someone else who knows nothing about the merchant also sends an email, that person will also be in contempt. This is grossly unfair, as that's how affiliate programs work & survive! Many different people who don't know each other are advertising the same product or service via their affiliate membership. They aren't breaking the law when they email someone, they don't even know a specific person has been removed from someone else's list! It just seems crazy to me. If this law passes, it will be the demise of so many people, thousands, if not millions of people will be out of work. We are all honest, ethical people trying to do what's right for our families. Those of us who are operating highly credible, honorable & ethical companies online always honor a removal & do not spam at all. It's not fair to penalize us for someone else's wrong-doing. I think that the current CAN-Spam law is wonderful, it it effectively curbing the unlawful spammers out there, but this is taking it way too far. What else do we have? With Corporate corruption, downsizing & Industries literally moving to other Countries, what else are we to do? We are trying to do something good, make a future for ourselves & be our own bosses. Please don't take that away from us.
