Can Spam initiative Dear sirs, Thanks for wanting to move against spam. But please don't insist that I (and many others) wage war against the spammers using 'suppresion lists'. From what I can see it has just too many problems and costs for everyone, and costs for me, tied to it. For one thing, the way the rules are framed at the moment people with totally legitimate, opt-in mailing lists (like me) will have to ask people for their permission before assigning them to any mailout to that list. I appreciate your rules were framed with spammers in mind. But this requirement will actually affect me and my customers who are happlily on my list and who actually look forward to me email, Also, there is NO doubt that the suppression list will fall into the hands of spammers (they will offer enough money to one of the guardians of the list, and — in a second — all those names will go into the spammer's mailing list, where he will use them rapraciously and snub his nose at your rules. Thankyou for considering my email. Please act against the spammers, but not by using supression lists. Thanking you. Len McGrane *REDACTED PERSONAL INFORMATION*
