Re: CAN-SPAM Act Rulemaking, Project No. R411008 To the Commissioners, Spam is expensive to businesses and consumers, OPT-IN lists make sense for businesses and consumers. The use of suppression list are preposterous. Business is already so hindered on the net, just by the mere fact that businesses need to navigate around the internet in the midst of all the personal web pages and other non-business pages. Commerce is essential to the future of the internet, suppression lists would be almost impossible to manage. I think it is important to focus on what methods of controlling spam will really help eliminate spam. Suppression lists will not help one bit in the control to eliminate spam. There needs to be a way that business can advertise using email that is cost effective, much like the current postal service. Business helps keep the cost of postage affordable for personal use.
