Once again, just like when I was in grade school, the innocent are being chastised with the guilty. However, it seems that the ones who are responsible for all of this are NOT the ones being affected the most. They still find ways to get their junk out and the law abiding ones keep scrambling to try to conform with the latest laws. I believe in opt-in lists and the right to unsubscribe. But question - if I find something that interests me and I think I am forwarding it to a friend but it ends up in someone else's inbox, have I committed a crime? Will I be chastised or fined or lose my service for this? I am also very concerned on how this will affect affiliate programs. It sounds as though the original sponsor would be responsible for what ALL of his/her affiliates do, which is very diffecult to control. I've found that the spammers, whom this SHOULD BE AIMED AT seem to focus on the high visibliity, more well known ISP providers. Those of us who have a less known ISP don't seem to get the trash emails that the others get. Does that possibly give you a better idea of what direction to focus on? I don't mind commercial messages from those who have been gracious to put me on their "customer" list or to whom I have subscribed to their ezines. These are individuals and companies whom I have CHOSEN to do business with. PLEASE do not make this more difficult. As it is, I received an advertisement with a completely different email address in the TO line than mine. When I tried to forward it to my ISP with a note to find out whether it was an error or spam, my email was classified as spam and did not go through. THIS IS GETTING RIDICULOUS!!! Thank you for wanting to correct the problems, but please, please do not just keep sensoring the good guys and having little to no effort on the real culprits. Some of the question I did not have an answer for so I left them blank. Sincerely, Marie Rulnick
