New investment in renewable energy GENERATION technologies is the goal, as capital investments stimulate the economy and provide for a sustainable future. Any consumer, such as my wife and I, who pays a special fee (fixed or other) for green power should NOT have their money "traded" or used for purchasing RECs by a public utility; but, rather, ALL green fee payments should be absolutely GUARANTEED of being exclusively INVESTED in renewable energy generation. In Michigan, clear, purposeful investments in job creating new technologies are required. Growth in use of fossil fuels is NOT the path to energy independence. So, please PROHIBIT use of any FEES collected from consumers for "green energy" from being TRADED by utilities to allow continued use of fossil fuels. If utilities want to produce fossil fuels, this must be paid for by persons who are recognized as fossil fuel users and buyers - not those paying for green power. Do not allow utilities to obviscate -- or mix the uses of GREEN monies. Pollution must be known and shown for what it is. Please make sure that all legislation channels new investment SOLELY to new and renewable technologies. This is how we will break the fossil fuel inertia -- and begin, sincerely, the SHIFT to an energy independent future. Thank you. Dave & Kathy Friedrichs,, Michigan
