Carbon Offset Workshop – Comment, Project No. P074207 I want to whole heartedly support the comments of David Wright and the Ecology Center regarding the deceptive marketing of RECs. As a concered citizen, I want to be able to purchase energy that is generated renewably. The whole point is to create a market for (preferably) locally generated renewable energy (from wind, solar, biogas), not create a market for RECs or support environmental timebombs such as nuclear power, which is the effect of Detroit Edison's GreenCurrents. By discussing renewable energy in their GreenCurrents marketing materials, and not distinguishing between that and RECs, Detroit Edison tries to tap into our desire to promote renewable energy without actually providing ANY of it.
