I am a member of HRS Clearwater. I am a concerned member of the American public. I would like defined and explained how a company can claim it is reducing its carbon output by buying some other company's credits. The overall total of output is not changed, the location of the output is smaller in one place but larger in another place. I totally agree with Consumer Union's letter asking that standards (high), definitions, wording, etc. be carefully crafted so consumers can know just who is doing what in the matter of carbon emissions. As to companies which claim to be investing in greener activities, this should be lauded, but it should also be IN ADDITION to anything they do to reduce their own emissions. It is vital that EVERYTHING that can possibly be done, be done simultaneously. Gaye Leslie
