The impact to my business with the new ruling for carelabels is a positive one. On many occasions manufacturers will place a carelabel on a garment that is not processeable because the carelabel was considered for the material of the garment and not the decorative beading and trim. By altering a garment and adding beads or leather trim, no longer makes it possible to process it according to the care label used by the manufacturer. By stressing the importance of a care label on a garment, it is more likely that a manufacturer will put the garment through the correct and necessary cleaning process before it is sold to retailers. The new rulling and correct labeling will allow a drycleaner to correctly identify how a garment should be processed and not assume the cleaning procedure. The impact is a reduction in claims for damaged garments and customer retention.
