Dear Sirs, I have had a credit freeze on my consumer credit file since California enacted legislation establishing them for California residents. Since activating the freeze on my account, I have felt far more secure than I ever have in the safety of my personal credit file. I am also a landlord who over the years has run credit checks on perspective tenants. To this day, I am amazed at how easy it is to obtain volumes of personal information with just a few data items. We need to expand the scope of credit freezes to place more control over stored personal information into the hands of the consumer. I am specifically talking about the credit reporting agencies and the consumer information brokers.
