With regard to a "Fair and Reasonable fee", I believe that much of the cost of providing consumers with credit reporting information should be at the expense of the credit reporting company. I think a complete report should be available to all consumers once per year at no cost to the consumer and simply a cost of doing business for the credit reporting agencies. Additional reports should be available for free if due to an inaccuracy in the report. Other reports should be available for purchase at a maximum charge (< $10) which only covers the basic costs of printing and mailing the report. In addition, the reports should be available electronically at a reduced cost if security issues can be worked out. Many businesses have inherent cost of business structures and this should be one for credit reporting agencies. It is critical to protect the consumer at minimum or no cost to the consumer so that all consumers can actively participate in protecting themselves. Thank you for your consideration of these comments.
