Protections must not be removed from third parties who have no relation to the deceased debtor. I have seen situations where the debt collector assumes that a relative is responsible for the deceaseds debt when in fact they were not. The collectors actions were nothing more than harassing and shold have never occurred. The debt collector continually made harassing phone calls to the point that the sister did not wish to answer the phone. The sister of the deceased was in no way responsible for the debt. The protections of the FDCPA need to be strengthened for consumers, not weakend.
