Stop debt collectors from contacting anyone but the person listed as executor or legally assigned as executor by a court of law; let's keep it legal and under control and don't allow them to contact the family until a set time after the funeral is completed. Imagine loosing your spouse of many years and then get harassed during the wake/mourning period; how do you think an elderly person will handle it? I think this could cause them to have a heart attack, so debt collection should be handled delicately with "the utmost respect to the family of the deceased". Everyone understands these companies are owed the money but they must be forced to stop their unethical ways unless that is what the FTC is condoning? We the people will have something to say to our president now and in 2012 if this is the case as with the recent TSA’s body scanner debacle. The FTC needs to get debt collection for the deceased right and protect the rights of people who are left behind to pick up the pieces after death.
