After loosing my brother to pancreatic cancer, I was told that I was responsible for his mortgage since I was his brother. Even though the house is worth half of what he paid for it and I have no interest in owning it or living in it, I was his sole heir thus responsible for it. For two years I have been harrased and notified that his debt needs to be paid and that I should be a responsible individual and pay his debt. I have already lost my own home and do not have the money to hire an attorney to fight this situation, but that does not stop the phone calls or the debt collectors. I would like to understand how I am responsible for a debt that I did not incur, that I did not sign for nor that I have even gained from?
