Submission Text
I am strongly opposed to letting debt collectors unabashedly harass surviving relatives in order to collect debts. This is tantamount (or even worse) to revisiting the old telemarketers consumer harassment schemes of the past. Who will be monitoring those to make the harassing calls and what confusing story lines will be used to even coerce those not even legally responsible for a debt into believing that they are? This just opens up too many bags of worms of legalized cajoling, confusion and downright fraudulent behavior of those vested with the "power" to directly or indirectly harass those who are caught at the most inopportune time of grieving--This is yet another perfect example of government acquiescence to one of the most insensitive practices administered on its citizenry imaginable.
