Regarding debt collection for deceased indivuals. The debt, if still owed, and I argue that debts die with the individual, is only the responsibility of the estate. Debt would be solely the responsibility of the estate, not any funds paid to beneficiaries such as insurance or trust proceeds. The collector must work only through the executor, not the survivors, and survivors have no responsibility to advise the collector how to contact the executor. The debt collector can petition the court. The survivors must be spared the harassment of the collector, and should be protected from them at all costs.
