Last year I walked into my rental store, where I was renting a computer and told them I lost the computer , they of course seemed not to believe me. They asked if I would sign a statement authorizing them to use the webcam to determine if I was still using it. I said certainly. A week later they called and said they recovered my laptop. I don’t think I was violated and I thank god they had that capability. I suppose you’ve investigated this because someone misused it. But, you can misuse a pencil and poke out someone’s eye. However, in this country we don’t ban pencils; we only ban the inappropriate use.
