Submission Text
Individuals should be informed when facial recognition is being utilized in software or any kind of commercial application. Individuals should be informed via clearly placed sign or label when facial recognition is being used for security (retailers, airports, etc.), by vending machines or any other use. This gives the person the option to not enter those areas or use the device/software. There needs to be regulations regarding the security level of facial images or features that are collected and stored. Someday the hackers will figure out how to steal this information and could use it to commit fraud against indivuals or impersonate them. There should be rigid regulations regarding the safegaurding of any and all biometric data including facial images/features, fingerprints, ocular patterns, vein patterns, and/or DNA.
