I am opposed to the concept of building technology and a database for facial recognition. First, it violates privacy rules because a person has no say or even knowledge of the fact that this information is being gathered. Second, now that people can be held indefinitely without being charged with a crime, it is more vital than ever that privacy be protected. Third, what if mistakes are made? Then there will be a situation where someone is detained and held, potentially forever, with no recourse because of mistaken identity.
This is unreasonable surveillance with no stated purpose. There are no benefits to this technology except to those who want to deny Americans our freedom.
