My child cannot watch a cartoon or even an educational program without being barraged by loud music, colors, characters, and other story lines, constantly, over and over and over, telling her to eat junk food, ask for junk food, with promises of fun and games. I try to fast forward though all the programs by taping them, or I mute the tv if a commercial comes on live tv, but it is difficult. I cannot control what she sees at my parents, friends etc. The advertising for chidlren has to go.
The number of children and teenagers who are obese has tripled while the FTC and Congress has looked the other way. This is unacceptable. Now is the time to take action. The epidemic has started, and it is not going to be easy to turn the tides. Corporations line their pockets with money and our children's health pays the price. Advertising junk food to children for profit is immoral and unconscionable. Please take clear, decisive steps to end this misjustice.
