To the Interagency Working Group on Food Marketed to Children: As a parent, teacher and consumer I would welcome guidelines that recommended the lowering of salt, sugar and fat in foods advertised to children. Imagine an advertisement on TV that promoted eating foods that were both healthy and fun. The rate of obesity is rising in this country. Fat children tend to become fat adults. They are less healthy. The consequences of this affects them personally and, also, our health bill as a nation. High rates of obesity affect the abilities of individuals in our workforce and military. It is not asking food companies too much to voluntarily contribute to the health of a nation by developing and promoting healthier foods. Please adopt these guidelines.
