Either credit reports are free or they are not free. The current advertising which relates to "free credit reports" is misleading at best, in truth such ads are disingenuous, false and dishonest on their face. It is my hope that the FTC makes certain that every American can quickly and easily get their credit report without cost and without offers for extras, ups and additions -- especially when such offers appear to be part of an official government site. The system we now have plainly reflects the political power of the credit card industry and devalues the historic independence and mission of the FTC. It's time for the FTC to again represent the public.
