Comments:First, this public comment site should have the word "annual" in its extention, e.g., FreeAnnualCreditReport; otherwise, this public comment site too closely resembles the commercial site called freecreditreport.com that entices visitors to register for a membership for which there is a monthly fee. There is too much similarity between the public and commercial sites to begin with, and the address of this site promotes further confusion. The site https://annualcreditreport.com as it appears today, 10/13, with the sponsors' logos boxed separately from the submission box is adequate. The disclaimer currently at freecreditreport.com is acceptable but should be more prominent. The name of site is unfortunate and misleading. The free report is a condition of membership, not free with no strings attached. The snag is the requirement that the membership be cancelled within 7 days in order for no charge to occur. That's conditional, tied to a need for further action. That's not free in the honest sense of the word. The word "free" should be removed from the site's address. The conditions under which there is no charge for a credit report should be stated much more boldly.
