Because I placed a security freeze on my credit files to further protect them, I cannot get the annual free credit report online from Equifax to which I am entitled. I can get it via mail, but I have to mail Equifax a copy of my social security card and a utility bill showing my address in order to receive the report. I feel mailing my social security number to them is itself a security risk. Both Experion and Transunion allow me to request the free annual report online despite the security free. I feel that Equifax should also provide a means for those of us with a security freeze to also be able to obtain our annual report securely.
