I support your proposal to require a separate landing page on sites which advertise free reports which explains that the reports are NOT the free reports guaranteed by the federal government. I also support your proposal to delay advertising for other credit products until after consumers obtain their free annual credit reports. Please also, make the credit reporting companies regulated since many of them send out misinformation and then it is a nightmare trying to correct them. I wrote Experian several times about erroneous info on my report. The refused to change it unless i would provide copies of my bank statements, paycheck, utility bills. I told them they had no right to ask for such personal info and that it should be their duty to not wrongly villify individuals. I tried to get the FTC to help but was ignored. Credit reporting companies have caused many individuals to not be able to rent, buy, or get jobs. Our economy is horrendous right now and our citizens need help surviving. Yes, get the erroneous free credit report scammers but please also do something about reigning in the reporting companies themselves.
