The FTC should insist that the cosmetic industry not be allowed to label their products as "organic" unless all ingredients in the product are, in fact, organically grown. Truth in advertising should apply to organic labeling, which should mean to the consumer that EVERY ingredient in a product is organic. Consumers are being misled when manufacturers are permitted by law to use the "organic" label if just one ingredient in the product is organically derived. Currently, products made with petrochemicals and synthetic ingredients are legally allowed to advertise the product as "organic" and this false advertising must be stopped! Organic washing must be made explicitly illegal!
