I am a Dermatologist in private practice. I have been in practice for 25 years. The indoor tanning industry has been very aggressive in marketing themselves to the public assuring that tanning beds can provide a "safe tan". They would often provide free tanning to cheer leaders in the local high schools to further entice tanning within that peer group. They continued this type of publicity and enticement despite the many studies proving quite the opposite. I complement the FTC for their actions in forcing the Indoor Tanning Association to tell the truth about their product and its enormous health hazards.
