As an independent jeweler, I feel that the term "platinum" should not be used to describe jewelry that contains a low percent of platinum mixed with base metals. It will be confusing to many consumers and be a hassle to the industry. I agree with comments made by the Platinum Task Force that a new name should be created to describle platinum and base metal jewelry.
