Comments:We only have one America. Right now it is being held hostage by the oil and gas companies. My husband and I tried to do our part by cutting back 50 percent and all that we gained were higher prices. We cut back and gas went up. The oil profits went up. Every time oil commodities dropped we cheered and the next day something happened with an oil company and commodities went back up. It goes up and never comes down like other things. When frost hits the citrus and produce it goes up for one season and comes down the next. It starts to drop and Goldman Sachs says gas is going up to $200 a barrel and it rises $3 overnight. From what I have read they have invested in commodities and aren't doing well do to subprime losses or something. An investigation should go all the way to the White House and include Bush and Cheney. WE, THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, have a right to know what is going on and to see justice done on our behalf. We have totally given the wrong message to all companies by allowing price manipulation and gouging. If the investigation had been started in December of 2007 we would not be seeing the food and mortgage crisis as bad as it has become. What would happen if all companies decided they were above the law and started using their products to hold us hostage? Such as computers, water, insurance, appliances, furniture, anything is subject to price manipulation and gouging. All it take is getting together and setting prices. It needs to be controlled before we find that all people in this great nation are bankrupt do to one entity. The oil companies. If prices had been going up steadily for years we could certainly understand that but to see the price of gas jump daily just because we won't condone drilling in the Arctic is pretty much a no brainer.
