Enclosed please find, “Public Media Around the World: International Models for Funding and Protecting Independent Journalism,” a new report from Free Press, authored by Rodney Benson and Matthew Powers of New York University’s Department of Media, Culture and Communication. In this report, the authors survey the concrete ways that democratic nation-states around the world fund and protect the autonomy of journalism and public media. Countries examined in this report are: Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
