As a professional that has been in this field for 19 years I would like to say that this requirement is unecessary.
I don't understand what's behind this. My clients are always given the option to purchase their medication at pharmacies and most of them choose to purchase it from me. They want their local vet to make money so that we can continue serving them.
There are greedy, obnoxious professionals in every field, but they are the minority and clients learn quickly who these people are and search other vets nearby.
This law fells like an unecessary invasion of my relationship with my clients.
Costco now carries most of the veterinary prescriptions we carry and that means we will probably stop carrying those medications now. So the client has to leave our practice and stop elsewhere to get the medication. This sometimes is so inconvenient they end up not giving the pet the needed medication in a timely manner or at all.
Stop wasting our tax money on something as unecessary as this bill.
Thanks for listening!
