As a house call veterinarian, I would under the new law, have to write scripts for all the medications I want the pet to have. Then tell the owner that they have the option to go shopping for them , or by signing another piece of paper, I can dispense them from my truck.
Seems like an extreme waste of paper, not to mention my time.
I have over the last few years transferred all records to digital format to combat paper waste and storage. To now have to add this much more paper and then store it for 4 - 7 years, is just another burden.
I willingly write scripts for medications, when the owners request them, as required by NYSVMA requirements.
