I have worked with retail pharmacies to prescribe animal medications; unfortunately I find a significant problem with the retail pharmacy outlets in there lack of education regarding animal drug use and dosages. I have several times had pharmacies change medications without notification causing large problems. Requiring prescriptions to be given in all cases without a motivated, educated pet owner seems to lead to significant errors in medication.
