The Pet Medication Workshop, Project No. P12-1201 is an unnecessary burden for Veterinarians. Veterinarians are already offering written prescriptions and competitive prices for Veterinary Pharmaceuticals. It shouldn't be the business of the Federal Government to dictate how we conduct our business. To have to write a prescription for everything even the medications the client chooses to purchase from us is ridiculous.Veterinarians have the training to safely prescribe and fill necessary medications. Pharmacists do not have any training to safely fill prescriptions or understand what they are filling. They cannot tell an owner the proper way to give the medication or how to use it. I have had pharmacists question my prescriptions or change them as they see fit without informing or consulting me. Where is the evidence that there is a problem in the first place that Federal legislation is needed? Veterinarians should not be held liable if the Pharmacy fills the prescription wrong, we should be able to have clients sign a waiver.
