My concerns regarding this issue is continuity of care. I have the difficult job of trying to find out information from a client about their pets and then applying that to the case in front of me. Many clients do not know what medication they have been giving from another source. If I do not have any control over where these medications come from or the dosage, then I will have a next to impossible job of providing appropriate care for the patients. In a second opinion situation, I can call the initial veterinarian and then make appropriate changes in medications. If I can not access this information, I will have a hard time helping my client and their pet.
